Interview: Ace Parker

Interview: Ace Parker

We sat down with Milwaukee Hip-Hop Artist and Producer Ace Parker to talk about his music, his motivation and his new album 'Selfish.'

Tell us about yourself

My names Ace Parker I’m from Milwaukee Wisconsin I’m 23 and I put my Life into music.

What emotions did you want to capture when writing/producing your new album?

Writing this Album I wanted to capture a sneak peek into who I am as a person. In 2018 i released MIMBoh and to me that was a side of me I wanted people to relate too but with this album I wanted to give you a full glimpse into who I am as an Artist.

What was the hardest part about creating your new album?

The hardest part for me I think was getting out of my comfort zone and getting into a space where I could articulate what I wanted too but also create a picture with words that resonated with a lot of people. Adding to that, I also wanted to hit certain goals I had set for myself in making more music that was light and fun that people who don’t want the bars Ace could listen too.

Best part?

The best part was most deff the recording process and building parts of the beats with my producers and making each track into something special.

What track on the album speaks to you the most and why?

I think for me 'Testimony' and 'Bad Connection.' 'Testimony' cus it’s really about my journey in life and getting to where I am today and all of the people that were a part of it and that continue to be. 'Bad Connection' because everyone has had someone or multiple people in their life that just wasn’t the right fit or right energy that they had to cut out and I feel learning that lesson was pivotal in the writing process.

How did you get involved with Koss?

My friend and another super talented artist Mic Kellogg invited me to be a part of something he was working on with Koss, became super great friends with their Content Developer Martin Moore and we hit it off immediately. I get honored with working close with Koss and bringing to live their visions for promoting their headphones, I’ve had my own pair since I was 12.

What advantages do you see the Milwaukee music scene providing that perhaps other larger cities might not?

I think the community. Everyone in the city is hungry right now and we are on the way to really being a tight knit community that supports and pushes each other.

If you weren't making music what else would you be doing?

Honestly nursing. I was half way into getting a nursing degree but had to kick it for a while and work to save up, I still want to finish that out tho when I have the time.

What's one thing most people don't know about you?

I love to read, my parents used to take books away from me as punishment when I was a kid. I haven’t had time to read in a while but yeah I love to read a million books back to back and normally can just be up reading for days.

Where does Ace Parker see himself in 10 years from now?

In a mansion on the coast hopefully. Making the music I love with the artists I’ve looked up too since I was a kid. I need a Grammy and I need to bring more back into the city that made me. I don’t know if I’ll stay independent or sign at this moment but definitely want to make the best music possible and be able to bring everything back to the 4. In ten years I want to be able to do that with the friends I’ve made and continue to make through this career.
