A few months back we sat down with AdELA to discuss her music, her motivation and her future.
The Atlanta singer/rapper is back with her latest music video "Different" from her album "On The Line" - and this time she's paired the Porta Pro® Limited Edition Black Gold with her visuals. We recently caught up with AdELA to talk about the concept behind her new video, her love for fashion and what makes her 'Different.'
Tell us about the concept behind your latest music video "Different."
My concept for Different was "Timeless." CKay1 my producer for this track created a timeless sound and when my writing team and I went in we followed his lead. So I needed a video that had that same vibe.
I had been to New Orleans a couple years back and I loved the energy, architecture, and design and I knew one day a song would come along for me that would fit that style. I ended up finding a mansion in Detroit that was converted into a small hotel that was absolutely perfect!
It's called the Inn At 97 Winder and the owners of the property spent 10 years collecting antiques for the space so it was a grand, authentic feel.
Fashion always seems to be at the forefront of your visual aesthetic, what is it that you love about fashion?
I have a love for mixing high and low end fashion as well as street wear with a bit of glamour. Fashion and music go hand in hand; when I create a record, I want people to be able to see the entire vision and fashion helps me do that. I try not to take myself too seriously and just have fun with it.
Let's talk about those Porta Pro Limited Edition Black Gold headphones in your video.
They were definitely co-starring in my new video!
They are my favorite pair of headphones for both the sound quality and the design. I literally planned my outfit around those headphones. They are glamorous and edgy and went perfect with my song "Different."
One of the first lines of the track goes: "We took a couple risks, now we're winning" - What has been your biggest risk as an artist?
Everyday as an artist is a risk! We are putting ourselves and our passion out there for the world and there is no guarantee that it will pay off. I think when you are a creative or a visionary you are a risk taker so it goes hand in hand.
You will have to have tough skin in the business because you will fall, but its all in how many times you are willing to get back up. That part, is where you win.
What has been your biggest win?
My biggest win has been my fan base. I am always so humbled that people are buying my songs, watching my videos, and interacting with me.
What does 'Different' mean to you?
It means loving exactly who you are and being unapologetic about it.
