I was searching online for a pair of lightweight headphones that I could carry around with me on the go, primarily to use with my cell phone, Switch, and iPod Shuffle, when I came across the PortaPro. I thought they looked cool, and after watching a few reviews on YouTube and reading through some Reddit threads, I decided to give them a shot. After using them almost daily for about a month, I can confidently say that I love them. I find them to be both aesthetically pleasing and functional; they feel light and secure on my head, and they're easy to take off and pack up in a jiffy.
They also sound solid for the price point they're at. Like most reviews say, the sound signature is a bit warm, featuring a prominent midrange with slightly recessed treble and lower-end bass, but in my experience, I haven't found either of these weak spots to greatly impact my enjoyment of most of the tracks I listen to on my iPod Shuffle or phone.
I have two major gripes with the PortaPro:
1. The build quality. They feel fine, but they would definitely benefit from a more durable plastic housing and cord.
2. Noise cancellation. Not the biggest problem in the world, isn't much of a factor for me half of the time but sometimes when I'm outside in public and there's some wind or commotion nearby my PortaPros can quickly get drowned out. The housing's lack of noise cancellation can exacerbate their drivers weaknesses and its a weakness that goes against the PortaPro's portable nature.
All in all, I'm really happy with my purchase. Thank you, KOSS.
